Construction of 16-QAM OFDM Codes with Reduced Peak to Average Power Ratio using Golay Complementary Sequences

چکیده
OFDM is a powerful multicarrier transmission technique used extensively for wireless applications. High PAPR is one of the deleterious problems of OFDM. This paper reviews basic OFDM system and PAPR problem associated with it. Also, the construction of M-QAM particularly 16-QAM sequences using QPSK Golay sequences over 4 is conferred. It is elucidated that a 16-QAM constellation can be written as the vector sum of two QPSK constellations respectively. The Golay complementary sequences over 4 are then used to construct 16-QAM OFDM sequences with low PAPR. The PAPR bound for the generated 16-QAM sequences is calculated to be 5.56dB. Keywords—OFDM, PAPR, M-QAM, QPSK, Golay Complementary Sequences.

Quadrature Amplitude Modulated Codes with Low Peak-to-Mean Envelope Power Ratio for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Applications
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted as the modulation technique for many of the next generation wireless broadband multimedia communications systems, for example, Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), and the wireless local area network (LAN) standards HIPERLAN/2, and IEEE 802.11a. One problem inherent in plain vanilla OFD...
متن کاملRecursive construction of 16-QAM Super-Golay codes for OFDM systems
In this paper, the Peak to mean Envelope Power (PMEPR) of the OFDM codes generated from an 16-QAM constellation is discussed. Maintaining the same level of error correction properties, these codes achieve higher information rate. A new set of 16-QAM Golay sequences having PMEPR bounded up to 3dB is defined. Many recursive structures are found to generate Super Golay sequences. The recursive alg...
متن کاملQuadrature Amplitude Modulated Codes for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Applications
The development of next generation of high-speed mobile communication systems requires cost-effective transmission techniques. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a transmission scheme that has gathered much attention lately for its high performance at comparably low complexity. It has already been adapted in the European radio(DAB)and TV(DVB-T)standards, and IEEE 802.11a. Desp...
متن کاملTwo Constructions of 16-QAM Golay Complementary Sequences
We present two constructions of 16-QAM Golay complementary sequences. The size of the set of constructed sequences is (14 + 12m)(m!/2)4. Of these, when employed in an OFDM system, (m!/2)4 sequences have PMEPR (peak to mean envelope power ratio) bounded above by 3.6, three subsets of size (4+ 4m)(m!/2)4 contain sequences having PMEPRs less than of 2.8, 2.0, and 1.2 respectively, and a subset of ...
متن کاملConstruction of non-square M-QAM sequences with low PMEPR for OFDM systems - Communications, IEE Proceedings-
The author considers the use of coding to reduce the peak-to-mean envelope power ratio (PMEPR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Most of the existing schemes that use coding for PMEPR reduction assume a PSK constellation. The author presents the construction of non-square M-QAM symbols from a combination of QPSK and BPSK signals when M=2 and n is an odd number. By u...
